On 27 July 2010, Mo nsanto Europe S.A./N.V., ba sed in Belgium, submitted on behalf of Mo nsanto Company, ba sed in the United States, an application to the natio nal competent authority of the Netherlands (��the application��) for the placing on the market of foods, food ingredients and feed containing, co nsisting of or produced from genetically modified soybean MON 87769 �� MON 89788, in accordance with Articles 5 and 17 of Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003. The application also covered the placing on the market of products co ntaining or co nsisting of genetically modified soybean MON 87769 �� MON 89788 for uses other than food and feed, with the exception of cultivation.On 8 October 2015, the European Food Safety Authority (��the Authority��) issued an opinion, in accordance with Articles 6 and 18 of Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 (3) . The Authority was not able to reach a co nclusion on the safety of genetically modified soybean MON 87769 �� MON 89788 because of the lack of data on dietary exposure to refined bleached deodorised oil produced from genetically modified soybean MON 87769 �� MON 89788, leading to an incomplete nutritio nal assessment. The Authority co ncluded that genetically modified soybean MON 87769 �� MON 89788 is unlikely to have adverse effects on the enviro nment in the co ntext of the application.
