The world's biggest dairy exporter, Fonterra, will make infant formula for Bellamy's Organic under a multimillion-dollar deal, as the company increases production to combat chronic shortages of the product.

On Tuesday, shares in Bellamy's Australia, the parent company, rose 5.3 per cent shortly after the market open to $12.16. The company's shares have climbed more than eightfold since touching a 52-week low of $1.415 on December 12 last year.
