Water restrictions are about to get stricter.
Responding to the four-year drought that shows no signs of easing, officials at the State Water Resources Control Board voted Tuesday in Sacramento to extend current emergency water use rules and add several new ones.
By the end of March, you'll have to ask for a glass of water at a restaurant, and you won't be able to water your lawn for 48 hours after rain. Rules limiting landscape watering to two days per week were expanded; now every water supplier must limit the number of days its customers can water. The limit must be specified in drought contingency plans -- if it's not, the new rules stipulate a two-day-per-week maximum.
