   73.40 Dehydrated beets (beet powder?

  (a Identity. ? The color additive dehydrated beets is a dark red powder prepared by dehydrating sound, mature, good quality, edible beets.

  ? Color additive mixtures made with dehydrated beets may contain as diluents only those substances listed in this subpart as safe and suitable for use in color additive mixtures for coloring foods.

  (b Specifications. The color additive shall conform to the following specifications:

  Volatile matter, not more than 4 percent.

  Acid insoluble ash, not more than 0.5 percent.

  Lead (as Pb? not more than 10 parts per million.

  Arsenic (as As? not more than 1 part per million.

  Mercury (as Hg? not more than 1 part per million.

  (c Uses and restrictions. Dehydrated beets may be safely used for the coloring of foods generally in amounts consistent with good manufacturing practice, except that it may not be used to color foods for which standards of identity have been promulgated under section 401 of the act, unless the use of added color is authorized by such standards.

  (d Labeling. The label of the color additive and any mixtures prepared therefrom intended solely or in part for coloring purposes shall conform to the requirements of 70.25 of this chapter.

  (e Exemption from certification. Certification of this color additive is not necessary for the protection of the public health, and therefore batches thereof are exempt from the certification requirements of section 721(c of the act.


  73.40 脱水甜菜(甜菜粉(/p>

  (a)特性:

  ?)着色剂脱水甜菜呈深红色粉末,由生长良好、成熟、优质的食用甜菜脱水制成、/p>

  ?)由脱水甜菜制得的着色剂混合物,只能含有本分部所列的安全和适用于食品着色的着色剂混合物中稀释剂、/p>

  (b)质量规格:本着色剂必须符合下列各质量指标:

  挥发性物质,不超?%、/p>

  酸不溶性灰分,不超?.5%、/p>

  铅(以Pb计),不超过10mg/kg、/p>

  砷(以As计),不超过1mg/kg、/p>

  汞(以Hg计),不超过1mg/kg、/p>

  (c)使用和限制条件:脱水甜菜在符合GMP用量条件下可安全地用于一般食品的着色,但不能用于本法规401节中公布的已认定标准的食品的着色,除非所加入的着色剂是这类标准所允许的、/p>

  (d)标签标注方式:本着色剂和任何由本着色剂制成的混合料,拟单独使用或起部分着色效果时,其标签必须符合本章70.25中的规定、/p>

  (e)不需要产品证书:本着色剂无需产品证书以保护公众健康。所生产的每批产品也不需要按法规721(c)节规定的应具有产品证书、/p>
