(a Riboflavin (C17H20N4O6, CAS Reg. No. 83C88C5 occurs as yellow to orange-yellow needles that are crystallized from 2 N acetic acid, alcohol, water, or pyridine. It may be prepared by chemical synthesis, biosynthetically by the organism Eremothecium ashbyii, or isolated from natural sources.
