Regulations Respecting Stabilization of the Price of Beef Calves for 1977

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture, pursuant to paragraphs 2.1(b), 8.2(1)(b), and 10(1)(b) and section 11 of the Agricultural Stabilization Act, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Regulations respecting Stabilization of the Price of Beef Calves for 1977.
SHORT TITLE
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Beef Calf Stabilization Regulations.
PRESCRIBED PERCENTAGE
2. For the purpose of determining the prescribed price of beef calves for the calendar year 1977, the percentage of the base price of beef calves for that year is hereby prescribed at 95 per cent.
PRESCRIBED PRICE
3. The prescribed price of beef calves for the calendar year 1977 shall be the aggregate of
(a) 95 per cent of the base price of calves for that year; and
(b) the index applicable thereto calculated in the manner set out in the Production Cost Index Regulations.
PAYMENTS TO PRODUCERS
4. The Board may, for the purpose of stabilizing the price of beef calves at the prescribed price, make payments pursuant to paragraph 10(1)(c) of the Agricultural Stabilization Act to any producer of beef calves who has more than five beef cows kept in his basic herd for the production of beef calves subject to the following conditions:
(a) payments shall be made in respect of each cow of a producer in excess of five but not in excess of 95 that was on the producer’s farm on April 1, 1977 and, before that date, was bred to calve in 1977;
(b) no payment shall be made to a producer unless he registered in 1977 under a provincial beef cow-calf program in the Province of British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario or Quebec or he has registered under the Agricultural Stabilization Board 1977 Beef Cow-Calf Program;
(c) the payments shall be in the amount of five dollars and fourteen cents ($5.14) in respect of beef cows registered under a provincial program referred to in paragraph (b) and ten dollars and twenty-seven cents ($10.27) in respect of other beef cows;
(d) where a producer has beef cows registered under a provincial plan referred to in paragraph (b) and other beef cows, the payments shall, subject to this section, be made in respect of the beef cows registered under the provincial plan in excess of five and in respect of all the other beef cows; and
(e) not more than one payment shall be made in respect of any beef cow.
